Iñaki Vijandi

Team:

Once

The jersey of the Olsa team, worn by Iñaki Vijandi, recalls the unique trajectory of a Basque cyclist who combined road and cyclocross in the 80s. Vijandi, born in Ortuella, was twice Spanish champion of cyclocross in the amateur category and in 1985 reached a 5th place at the World Cyclocross, before making the jump to professionals with Olsa in 1986. Although his career on the road was discreet, his dominance in the mud was evident with these national titles. The Olsa garment displayed represents the world championship he won in 1979 as a youth. It is a tribute to the versatility and tenacity of those cyclists who raced both on the asphalt and in the field through.
