The Estepona team jersey on display belonged to José Miguel Elizburu, a Basque cyclist who competed in the late 1990s. Estepona, a modest professional team, gave Elizburu the opportunity to compete in national and international races between 1997 and 1999. Although Elizburu did not achieve any resounding victories, his presence in the peloton reflected the commitment of teams such as Estepona to emerging talent. The jersey on display, in the colours of the Costa del Sol, serves as a reminder of the short-lived existence of that Andalusian project and Elizburu’s fleeting stint in elite cycling.
