This KAS jersey belonged to Amelio Mendíjur, a promising young rider from Álava whose career was tragically cut short. Mendíjur, a local idol in the 1960s, died in 1965 at the age of just 21 following an accident during a race. Before his death, he had been a notable cyclocross rider (Spanish amateur champion in 1964), and his talent had excited fans. The yellow jersey bearing his name, on display at the museum, pays a moving posthumous tribute to this rider, recalling his status as a great, unfulfilled hope of the KAS team and preserving his memory among today’s fans.
